Here are some answers to some questions I frequently receive regarding Cinema4D and Modo.

Why have you switched from Cinema4D to Modo?
About a year ago I started working for a studio where Modo is a major part of the asset production pipe line. As a personal challenge and exercise I decided to create my next private project completely in Modo. I wasn't displeased with C4D or anything like that.
Which is "better", Cinema4D or Modo?
You can't compare C4D and Modo just like that. C4D is a complete 3D package with animation, dynamics, particles and mograph. Modo is "only" a modeller with a rendering engine. Both have 3D paint features.
C4D is more stable and more logical and has a larger user base and community. Modo on the other hand has better (more control and quicker process) selection, modelling and UV-mapping tools. The subdivision and edge weighting
tools are extremely good. Modos rendering engine is faster and produces better quality (VRay like) in my opinion, even compared to C4Ds Advanced Renderer.
Since I only model and render stills Modo is the better choice for me personally (yes it is also cheaper).
What do you miss from C4D?
Even if I currently prefer Modo over C4D I miss some features:
Active deformers. Modos deformers are very powerful but when you have deformed the mesh you can tweak the deformation. You have to undo it and redo it from scratch. In C4D the deformer itself is an active object which you drag your mesh into. You can turn the deformation on/off or continue tweaking the deformation or original undeformed mesh whenever you like. Bools, symmetry etc work in the same way.
Colored polygons. In Modo you can't see if you're looking at a polygons front or back side. In C4D the back and front sides are tinted with different colors when selected.
Slide point (vertex) along edge. In C4D this feature works nicely. In Modo it doesn't.

Where do you get your blueprints from?
I either buy books at Stenvalls [link] or download them from airwar.ru [link]. Regardless the source the blueprints need a
lot of photoshopping before they are usable.
The guy who runs airwar doesn't seem to appreciate foreign visitors. The English version of the site has recently been removed but with some
basic linguistic skills and babelfish you shouldn't have any problems navigating around. The downloads have also been restricted for IPs outside of
Russia but that's also no problem. You can download via any Russian proxy - for example this one [link]
